Will a MC-5 2.2 gal tank fit on a 72 6 day.

1st of all, I really enjoy "searching" the message board and reading all the posts. As a new memeber, the info is priceless!!

Anyways, The Gasahol thing has got me worried. My original 72 6-day tank is in pretty good shape.  I want to keep it that way.  

 On 1/9/08 Gary Roach posted pics of a MC-5 MX 2.2 Ga. tank from Clarke, he won in a race (?). Will this tank fit on a 72 6-day?

Mike Oreilly responed that he adapted it to work on CMF(?) frame by heating the bottom(?).

I rather put on one of these tanks for riding and keep my stock tank looking good.

Nah, it'd be sloppy, but mostly too long.
A 72 Six-Day tank was made thicker than the later tanks, and less prone to gas damage.
For a second rider tank why not find another '72 proper, used Six-Day tank, and put the best one on the shelf until needed.
I just drain my gas if it's going to be in there for any longer than a week.
