Penton Talk / 5 speed / 6 speed
March 28, 2005, 10:38:36 AM
Just to add a little more info to this disscussion. I recently acquired a CMF Six Day with with a 5A motor or so it states on the cover. The frame number is 10650167 which if I understand the frame numbers would make it an early CMF bike. It also has the Bosch ignition and the brake and clutch levers are the early type with the finger bumps. I think it is a low hour bike since the orginal fenders are still in good shape so possibly has the orginal motor in it. I will have to check the serial numbers on the motor don't know those.  Walt

Penton Talk / Won't stay running
October 17, 2004, 11:50:31 AM
Rod just read your post and thought it was something that I must have written. I just had a similiar problem that you have described with a Jackpiner. My problem turned out to be electical. The kill button was shorting out once the motor started. The bike would start and run briefly then die. It would not idle nor continue running if I tried to ride it. I also thought it was a fuel problem. Hope this helps. Walt

Penton Talk / Bark busters
July 21, 2002, 01:08:13 AM
I don't know how one tracks down the history of bark busters but I recall crashing rather hard one time in the early 70's because my front brake lever was caught in some salt cedar limbs and thinking that I should have bought a bark buster(might have been called a different name). As I recall they were just a simple Alm bar at the time. Kinda of sissy type equip at the time. My two cents worth. Walt

Penton Talk / Penton Owners in TEXAS
June 28, 2002, 08:30:59 PM
Hi Monty Glad to hear from another Penton owner in Texas. I live in the DFW area and there are several Penton owners in this area. You might go to the Texas Vintage Racing Club's website and look under members and see if anyone owning a Penton is in your neck of the woods. //www.tvrc.org

Penton Talk / Penton Trials ID
March 13, 2001, 09:56:02 AM
I have a bike in trials setup Frame #W328ST and it has the A engine. I have very little info on this bike and when I went to Barry Elys website it says it is no longer available. I know the fenders are not orginal but not sure what the orginals were I have a photo in black and white and they appear to be the metal type. Any help with information about this bike would be appreciated.

Penton Talk / New Trails in W .V.
January 24, 2001, 08:22:04 PM
I have not ridden on the new trails but I rode the Monongahela National Forest Trails in 1969 and 1970. It is the best trail ride that I have ever been on. We stayed in Elkins and one of the riders had been hunting in the area for 10 years and served as a guide. I still have some photo's and I will post them on my website in the near future. If you live near there it is well worth the trip. At the time I lived in Va. and now wish I had made a few more trips back there to ride. Beautiful place I highly recommend it.

Penton Talk / Wassell
November 08, 2002, 12:51:08 AM
I believe E-Bay has a Wassell listed at this time. It looks like mostly just a parts bike from the photos. I live near where it is located if someone would like me to look at it for them I would be happy to do so. I have a Wassell so I am familiar with the bike. Walt
