Penton Talk / Modern Penton questions
May 12, 2010, 07:57:10 AM
The backfiring problem may be a leak at the header pipe, but I guessing it lean jetting causing decel popping. Need to richen up the jetting. Check out ktm.com site 4 stroke and jetting sections - good info.

Penton Talk / piston discoloration
January 13, 2010, 11:54:10 PM
Thanks for the ideas. The bike only has about 20 hours on a new top end including replate of cylinder. Also had port work and the head cut. Its is running terrific. Only thing different on this top end (#3) is a Athena forged piston instead of KTM OEM which is cast. Oh by the way. filter oil is no-toil which is red. Thanks

Penton Talk / Carnegie OHV closure

We ride at Carnegie also and my son races a AMA District 36 cross country event there once a year. Venues for riding and racing in California are in jeopardy.

Penton Talk / New bike vs. old

Ron,
Thanks for the advice. I do have a 75 Jack Piner with the layed down shocks and 35mm forks. It needs some work, but I think what you suggest may be the ticket. It was great to meet you at the Reunion Ride in Mo.

Does anyone know the schedule for the three days ? Didn't see it on the reunion site. Just trying to plan the trip.

Penton Talk / ISDT Reunion Ride
September 09, 2006, 07:00:28 AM
I'm hoping to stop by the reunion ride on my way home from visiting my mother in Georgia. This will be very exciting for me not only to take in the event including meeting all of you that attend, but since I grew up in Farmington which is about 5 miles from the park. I rode my first six day in that area 35+ years ago, long before it was a recreation area.  The only thing better would be to ride, but to get my bike from California and back with my schedule etc. appears not to be in the cards  this year. Hope to see you all.

Penton Talk / Suspension upgrade
August 15, 2006, 04:07:00 PM
Ok I understand your points and probably agree with you for the most part, but that wasn't the point of my question. What I was asking was what can be done to these bike to improve the suspensions without major modifications. I enjoy riding these bikes. Probably more then my 200 EXC. I don't mind riding them once a month on a moderately aggressive trail ride and I am willing to accept what may happen. I don't feel it is any different then racing them around a vintage MX track. Its about whatever your into and what makes you happy. I was just asking for some expert advice on what would make the riding easier on me and probably on the bike also.

Thanks, Mike

Victor -

The bike looks perfect. Wish I had room for another one. Who did the restoration in So Cal and do they do motor work ?  Hope you are feeling better.

Penton Talk / "Supertrap" on an Ace Pipe...
February 03, 2006, 03:47:05 AM
Hey guys - my JP came with a suoertrap end and it works great. Checked out the site and found the universal end is what is on my bike. The price is only $ 55 and it meets spark arrestor requirements and can be adjusted to comply with sound. Such a deal.
