Penton Talk / Dane Leimbach
June 24, 2011, 02:26:52 PM
Dane was and still is a Hero to me. Dane made me feel like family to him when i was just a young kid running the roads with my father. Dane, My thoughts and prayers are with you, your family and the entire Penton family. I can only ask the Lord to help Dane and his entire family during these most trying of times. Thanks Jack for the update and please keep us informed.

If you ever do get down to Callaway bring your mountain bike. The entire park/gardens/golf course is surrounded by an asphalt bike path.

There is also a fantstic indoor butterfly garden and horticultural center as well as the "Victory Garden South".

With me no longer being able to ride "real" bikes, the wife & I have taken up "soft" mountain biking and hiking. We just traded the toy hauler for a 5th wheel camper. Will still rebuild bikes & make a few events - but it's time to keep Mama happy, and I love the outdoors.

We found a great campground a couple miles from Callaway. The Little White House was a "must see" also.

We love the Blue Ridge Parkway, and get up there every few years.

Hey - did you ever get your new impact wrench?

Clark

Clark,

Sorry to hear that you can no longer ride "real bikes". Just find a way to stay involved and you'll be fine. Paul,Clark or any other POG member if your up my way stop by for some coffee or Tea. Who knows maybe even some good ole coonass cooking too! We love the Blue Ridge Mtns. here in WV.

Yesterday at Daytona Ian suffered a truly horrific crash basically being lawn darted into the face of a jump with his bike driving him into the face extremely hard. He has suffered multiple injuries although no spinal issues or breaks but has been medically induced in a coma. From what I've been told he has a lung injury that requied a respirator also, Let's keep Ian and his family in our thoughts and prayers.

Penton Talk / Non-Penton post, Huskies in "The Mechanic"

That was Husky's "RT" models. Dad actually took one that we could'nt sell and made one helluva woods bike out of it and then sold it to Glen Romero down in Louisiana and he rode it and won many of mx races on it. It was and still is labeled "The Pumpkin" for those of us back in the good ole days.

Penton Talk / Decoster headed to KTM

Now if he can bring Ryan Dungey with him, good-to-go!

Patrick
[/quotRyan's under contract with Suzuki until Sept. 2011. Decoster made it very clear that when Dungey's time is done with Suzuki or if his contract may be for sale he will be in contact with Dungey. And Ryan knows all too well that if not for Roger taking a huge gamble on him he may very well not be where he is today and Ryan has already made the comment..."I can't wait to join up with Roger once again"

Wanted / For Sale / Wanted- KTM 495
August 18, 2010, 10:42:45 AM
I have a 86 KTM 500 MXC that's available due to my health issues. I bought it to do a total resto to go with my other vintage bikes but health issues require a immediate sale of the bike and the spares i have to go with it.Bike runs fine, needs some jetting changes for this area and it needs a Magura perch and lever for the clutch side. The previous owner had the gearbox rebuilt by KTM Hut and just could'nt wait to ride it so he installed a Jap perch and lever and there's not enough clearance for the clutch cable. I have a extra rear seat, extra rear shock, extra silencer and some engine gaskets to go with it. If you or anyone else is interested you can contact me @ [email protected]

Penton Talk / Paint Color?
July 16, 2010, 02:53:20 PM
For years all Dad used at the shop was a Duplicolor called..Silver Mist Poly. Just 2 years ago i found some locally @ Autozone. Having said that i don't know if duplicolor is still making it or not but it was as close as Dad could find to match the OEM paint.

Penton Racing Talk / Cory Buttrick - 2010 VMD M/O
July 14, 2010, 02:29:03 PM
Clark, You and i both are well aware of the fact that if Dad's lookin down on you riding that beautiful Berkshire he built you and the suspension is not engaged, aggressive posture, power on and so forth he's not going to be a happy camper. As far as the riders gear these days, Your showing your age moaning about it. I work daily with young kids down there and up here and believe me, That gear in those pics are mild in comparison to some of the gear we see at the races these days. Take Care my friend and God Bless

Wow - what a difference in looking at pictures of US (old guys) from any vintage event - to seing these pics.

Suspension engaged - aggressive riding posture - bikes leaned over & dug into the turf - the riders weight even looks appropriate for the bike.

Reminds me of the pictures from when these bikes were originally used.

Now if we could just do something about their god-awful riding gear.......
