Bill, Maybe your trip wouldn't have taken as long if you were thumbing from the correct side of the road!
Great story and lifetime adventure

Paul, You are very welcome, Dave and I had fun putting it together, not to mention the increased computer tech knowledge we gained trying to email files back and forth!
You deserve it as you are the ultimate ambassador for Penton motorcycles and have dedicated a great part of your life to motorcycle community.
After several thousand miles riding around the country with you it was time to put all those stories down on paper. It was YOUR idea for the song!!!
Enjoy and be careful what you ask for...it might turn into a Bluegrass song!

Penton Talk / Sad news to report...
November 05, 2015, 09:01:31 PM
My thoughts and condolences to the McCullough family.

They opitimize the credo stated by John Penton... Family, People and Love is the glue that binds us all in the motorcycle community

Sorry for your loss

Penton Talk / penton 250
November 13, 2012, 04:52:27 PM
Gary,
Sorry to hear about your situtation. I went through Chemo and Radiation about 2 years ago. In fact I got into Pentons because of cancer in my family.(story for another time). The POG group was a very supportive group of people during my treatments. Some great guys...they know that is not just about the bikes but about the people.
Also I am lucky to live in Mars, PA and have easy access to the National Penton Archives and Paul Danik Library. During my treatment I think I read and watched every book and video about Pentons and dirt bikes written in the 60's and 70's.
My bikes were part of my therapy too. Even though I could not physically ride them during treatment...mentally I rebuilt them, cleaned them and visualized riding them with friends. It's amazing how fast you can go and how far you can ride wheelie (in your mind!)
My advice is... if you don't have to sell the bike keep it. Ride it in your mind, think of upgrades and mods you can make to it. When you are done with treatment you will cherish riding time even more.
Good luck and hope all goes well.

Penton Talk / A question of legality
October 01, 2012, 03:15:43 PM
I have a few antique titled bikes. The other man from Mars (Attacks) is correct. It is pretty easy if you can get some kind of MSO or title. You need 4 photos, one from each side, I think $75 one time fee and antique vehilce application and you have a plate. One suggestion I have is to try to use KTM on the application. The DMV can look that up pretty easy and they are familiar with the brand. Maybe KTM/Penton.
Antique plate means no inspection, and a permanent plate.
Good luck

Penton Talk / International title service?
August 15, 2012, 09:52:02 PM
I have used ITS twice and have had no problems. I live in PA and the notary service is the one that recommended them, It was about 6 years ago and ITS sent me a bill of sale from Maine which I took to the notary and got antique plates no problem,

Penton Talk / Buyers Beware
June 17, 2012, 02:46:02 PM
Mick, It sounds like my normal 3-11 Friday night shift during a full moon. But the potential buyer was lucky... I never to get to see the bike before the guy is handcuffed and we have to call mental health services.
Perhaps I should look into expanding my "Providing Security for the Vintage Motorcycle Community" business beyond Paul Danik and Jake Fischer!

Really though, sorry to hear that. I have heard some other internet sales meetings going way worse.

Penton Talk / Al Born has passed
May 08, 2012, 09:18:10 PM
Although I only knew Al for only a short few years I loved seeing him at POG events and talking to him about the old days in WV.
The world lost a wonderful person.
"Almost heaven , West Virginia" Let's hope that John Denver was wrong and it is more than "almost" for our friend Al.
