Great photos! Thanks! Don't see anything from the Trials event though. There was a nice Mudlark entered, that I saw in the AMA magazine. And I'm pretty sure he won his class, or at least the overall for the weekend, in all three disciplines.

Penton Talk / Oil leak/ J B Weld

I think I'd go with new cases for the airplane. Hate to be a few thousand feet up and wonder if I mixed the JB Weld enough.

Cool story!
Pipe on the fork tube looks like just a screwdriver holder.

QuoteAgain, XC is the low discipline on their list, so, the funds and concerns are not there to fix it....
QuoteFunny, after competing, as well as setting up some ahrma Trials events, I've always heard and thought TRIALS was the ugly step daughter to ahrma.

Penton Talk / Hi point trailer question

Turns out, it is a dead issue; the listing for the trailer I was looking at expired, and I lost contact with the seller....:(

I've had the same thing happen to me James. What I do now is write down the listings phone number. If it's not in the contact information, and I'm really interested, I email them, asking for the phone number. If a listing made it through the time period without selling, sometimes I've had luck calling them then.

Nice metal brake in the background!

1976 MC 5 Original Owner
1976 Penton 175 XC
1985 20' Hi Point trailer

Funny stuff James. I don't consider myself nosy, but often times find myself spending as much time looking at what's in the background as what's for sale.
I've even contacted sellers to ask about the other bike, tool or machine I can see in the photo. I usually get a "Huh, I didn't even know that was in the photo. Sure come take a look!" You never know.

Penton Talk / Strangest thing I saw while riding......
February 15, 2018, 04:14:18 PM
Well, this is a little weird. I have a Vintage Trials and Vintage HS on my property every year. On one section of the loop trail are some woops. I never thought that much about them until one day when I was walking the loop clearing branches and face slappers. I spent some time checking them out and they're kinda in a row and at the top end of a hill facing south. There are a few foundations around the property from the 1700's and earlier. Those people had to be buried somewhere, and I'm thinking the somewhat oval shaped holes might be caskets that have caved in. At that time they probably used wooden crosses, which would have rotted away by now. The property has been in my family around a hundred years, so I know no one has been there with a backhoe, or any other machinery.
Now I always feel a little creepy riding that section, like I'm doing something wrong.
Neat thread James.

Penton Talk / REBUILD NEWER WORKS PERFORMANCE SHOCKS

I just received a kit for my older Works shocks from Thor Lawson. I would assume he has parts and kits for newer ones as well.

Penton Talk / Standard vs O-Ring chain
December 15, 2017, 11:21:44 AM
I don't think my mighty Mudlark could climb over a telephone pole with an O-Ring chain on it, unless I was going down hill. Just put your bike on a lift and give the rear wheel a good spin. You'll notice a difference in drag between the O-Ring and non O-Ring instantly.
But this thread isn't much different than asking what oil to use.

Watched "The Doctor The Tornado and The Kentucky Kid" for the umteenth time last night. A great movie if you want to learn more about Nicky and  MotoGP racing at Laguna Seca.
Really nice kid and a great family. Looks like they will have lots of support.

Wanted / For Sale / Hi-Point HP14 trailer remodel

Not sure what your plan is for flooring, but I have used a product called MDO, or Sign Board. Works and looks great and is water-proof. It is deigned to be used for exterior use as signs and stands up great. I took a small trailer frame and used a sheet of MDO as flooring and made a cord wood trailer out of it. This trailer is wide open to the weather and is outside all year. The floor has stood up very well for having bark and wet leaves sitting on it for months at a time.
Here's a write up on it.

Ok, Got it Larry.
Also, I just visited the web site. I questioned in an earlier post from Dale why Trials wasn't part of the Vintage Grand Championship like it used to be, but I see it still is, according to the information page.

Quotequote:The class winners in the hare scramble, motocross and road racing disciplines will be recognized as AMA National Champions and receive a highly-coveted AMA National No. 1 plate.

The years I was there, Trials was one of the disciplines you had to ride in order to get the Championship.
I would love to go back. The last time I was there was the first year the AMA took over. I think there were around 20 riders in the Trials competition. The year before that, there were 24 riders just in my class!
Looks like the numbers are getting better.
