Penton Talk / Just wondered.......?

The GS designation is still alive and well. If you look at the KTM factory web-site and click on England (so it's in English) you will find a 200EXC GS. It is the street legal version of the EXC they sell here.

Penton Talk / lack of gear box oil
September 22, 2001, 01:35:21 PM
CZs have the same situation. They take a small amount of oil 600cc. When you pull the drain plug only a trickle comes out  All the oil is in the left case so you have to lean the bike over to get it out. The only difference is that CZs have a dry clutch. According to Bertus CZ this is normal.  Once the engine is running the trans. slings the oil into this area. I guess it is sort of like a dry sump in that only enough oil is there to lubricate not to cause drag.I am sure that with the reputation for reliability that CZ engines have the system works.

Penton Talk / Mettco Racing

Is that the team that was running "Pendas"? They were Pentons with Honda CR125 engines. I remember seeing them at Saddleback Carlsbad and The Dunes at CMC races. I think I remember a Tim Lunde on that team. I'll try to think of more.

Penton Talk / Octane Boosting
August 01, 2001, 01:35:48 AM
Then what is the answer? I was on VP's web site and there must be 20 different fuels to choose from. Is that 76 race gas any good? It must be unleaded because they sell it here in Ca. There is a station not to far from my house that is selling it for about $5.00 a gallon. Does it lose octane if it sits for a couple of weeks?

Penton Talk / '74 250 Questions
August 04, 2001, 02:55:04 AM
What was the difference between the KTM 250 that was sold in Europe and the Hare Scrambler that was sold here? Any hassels with AHRMA on the suspension on the '74 1/2 as long as you don't use the forward top mount? Are those forks "7 or more? Is Allen making new carb boots for this bike yet? I don't know Bob I am starting to waver on if I really want to sell it.

Penton Talk / '74 Hare Scrambler
July 02, 2001, 09:41:54 PM
Just bought '74 250 Hare Scrambler (I think).  It has about 5 positions on the swing arm and the shock can either be put on the down tube or under the seat. It has Ceriani shocks. It also has lights. Did they make a '741/2? How do you figure out the frame/engine #'s? Any pics or info would be appreciated.
