Wanted / For Sale / leather tank strap
April 15, 2002, 08:04:29 AM
Steve,
I had this same issue. I took my old strap ) to my local shoe repair shop (if you have one ) and had the guy buff/clean out the old strap. It turned out good as new, and was very pleased. You may wish to take a dremel to the buckles and clean them up first. They can be buffed out also. I forgot,I also had him put in new rivets.
This also set it off.
Good Luck,
Harris

Chris,
That is my plan. Did you pay $120 per rim? Who did you use to re-chrome?

Penton Talk / POG AND EBAY
December 04, 2001, 10:32:58 AM
Gentleman,
I am a somewhat new member and a licensed Real Estate broker and Auctioneer in the state of Virginia, and I have purchased many items on Ebay. Larry's topic of discussion is excellent food for thought.

In my 16 years in this business, I have seen "friends and family" Back Off or Not Bid on property, both real and personal,in an auction setting when other "family and friends" are bidding. Guess what usually happens? Another party, not "family or friend", gets the winning bid at a price that was acceptable to the "family or friend" and the items gone forever. Then the "family and friends" are all mad!

I therefore firmly believe, "may the best bid win". If you want an item bad enough you will bid. My wants and needs may be greater than the next guys, POG member or not. Who's to say when, or how much.

An auction is an honest way for a seller offer his or her item to the world for all interested bidders to determine the price. Remember, you determine the price! Your price may be higher than my price, only you know how high you will bid. I therefore feel that when it come to an auction, that POG members treat fellow POG members just like anyone else in the world, because that is what we are. I'm sure there will hard feelings, but that is life. If two POG members want the same item, then there is bound to be hard feelings somewhere. What happens if a POG member sells something on Ebay. Will that member want the auction price determined in a public forum. I would not like that. Gentleman it is a simple concept, supply and demand. If a POG member outbids me, then his demand must have been a little more that mine. What else can I say.

Respectfully,

Harris Ferguson

I am in need of the Made in Austria decal that is found on the triple tree on a 1972 Six Day 125 Penton. I also need the lower fork decals, I forget how to spell the name (I'm sure someone will tell me) but it begins with a "C".
Thanks,
Harris

Penton Talk / December Bike of the month.
December 07, 2002, 09:29:52 AM

I wanted to post a message to thank all the POG members that have helped me restore my 72 Six Day. As noted, I bought the bike new in April of 1972 for $850. (Lord only knows how much money I have in it now!) It was a labor of love and many very fond memories of my teenage years (It kept me away from the bad element). To hear that "ring ding ding", and ride the bike again after 28 years was wonderful!
So thanks to all the really great POG People that helped me make it all come together, and most of all, I want to thank my main "Go To" guy, Doug Wilford.
Sincerely

Harris Ferguson

Penton Talk / Exhaust Pipe paint
December 03, 2002, 09:27:11 AM
I recently used a high heat paint on my 72 125 exhaust. It blistered! Any proven suggestions as to a good high heat paint. Are the PJ1 high heat paints any good. Would the correct original color for a 125 Six day,be a high gloss or semi gloss black.
Any suggestions.
Thanks,
Harris

Wanted / For Sale / NOS or like new air filter
November 18, 2002, 08:54:29 AM
Putting a restoration back together. I bought the bike new in May of 72 for $850. One of the items I need to complete my job is an air filter for a 1972 Six Day (Plastic Tank Model) I would love to have a NOS. I currently have two older used paper ones. Is there a way to really clean them, to make them look more new ? Any help is welcomed.
Thanks, Harris

I need a NOS Shifter Rubber for a 1972 Six Day 125.Also any suggestions on the correct (for restoration) fuel line that will match the original. I can not remember what it was 30 years ago. I also need a NOS air filter, and some of the foam type strip that was used to seal the airbox cover, for the 72- 125 Six Day.  I am trying to finish a restoration.
Thanks.
