Penton Talk / ? removing paint from plastic ?
July 07, 2003, 08:28:02 AM
Rob,
This may sound crazy, but you could use brake fluid to remove paint from plastic. When I was younger this used to be a model car builders trick to remove paint from plastic car bodies so they could be repainted. Its kind of a slow process but will not harm the plastic. Put it on heavy and let it soak in.

Penton Talk / Transmission adjusting article needed

It sure would be nice if some of these tech articles from magazines and the newsletter could be posted on this web site. Maybe it could be set up with a password or something so that only POG members would have access. Just a thought. Don't even know if something like this is possable.

Penton Talk / Wassel

Thanks for the info. Dennis. The jet sizes you mention are the same as in my 24mm Bing carb. It still seems to be too rich. I'd like to find out what jet sizes Paul is running. Paul, If you see this could you please post your jetting specs. It sure would save alot of time experimenting with varius combinations. Thanks again for your help.

Penton Talk / Wassel

Hi,
I too am having trouble with the jetting on my 73 Wassell 125/6B. It has the 24mm Bing carb on it. I can't remember off the top of my head what the exact jet sizes are, but they are the same as a stock 72 125 Six Day which I am sure are not correct for the Wassell (especially the main jet). So, Paul or Dennis, if you could post your carb specs it sure would help alot getting this bike sorted out. Also, Dennis if you could post the carb specs for your 152 bike I would surely appreciate it. I've just assembled all the parts and will be building a 152 5A  motor later this summer. Thanks in advance for all your help.

John,
Thanks for the response.
I checked with Larry a week or so ago and he did not have the correct one. I talked to Fay at Bing and I think we found the correct vaporizer. Part #51-596. I have one of the vaporizers in question and we compared dimensions etc. and they seem to match. I ordered one today and when I get it I will let you know if it is correct.

I need a couple of the vaporizers mentioned in the John Penton article on carb tuning.
Have you been able to identify the correct one to order from Bing? Thanks for your help.

Hi,
I have a 1973 Penton/Wassell trials bike for sale. The bike is in excellent condition - looks and runs great. $2000.00 firm. Pics are available. Bike is located near Raleigh, NC. I would prefer not to ship but could with some some guidance(I've never shipped a bike before). Buyer would be responsible for actual crating and shipping charges. I could also possibly deliver or meet within 200 miles of Raleigh. For more info or pics please email - [email protected]
Thanks,
Mike

Penton Talk / Curnutt Shock Info.
December 27, 2002, 08:38:08 AM
Hi,
Just purchased a 73 Penton 125 with a great looking set of Curnutt shocks on it. To keep within a low budget I plan to use them on this bike. The bike will mainly be used for trail riding. Iv'e disassembled the shocks for cleaning and will put in new fluid. Does anyone know what would be a good starting point as for oil wt. in these shocks? Also, they were mounted on the bike with the body side of the shock mounted to the frame and the shaft end mounted to swingarm. Is this the correct mounting? I,ve looked through several old M/C mags for info on these and the few bikes I saw with Curnutt shocks in the mags had them mounted in a conventional manner. Thnaks for any help you can provide.
Mike
