Penton Talk / Mcgrath to KTM
August 14, 2002, 03:16:52 PM
Hey, I'm a big fan of motocross and attend as often as I can. Where can I find out more information on this?  I haven't heard but would love to know more.

Penton Talk / Even more interesting...

Mike, Thanks for your reply.  There are a few other things I've noticed that are different than other's Penton bikes including a 17 inch rear and Lectron carburetor.

Thanks for all the help.  After a long weekend of work I finally got the slide/rod unstuck.  I continued to soak the slide and rod port and tapped lightly over two or three days increasing pressure each day.  Finally it came out.  The rod had buildup that cleaned off fairly easily and now it seems to work fine.  Thanks for the reply!

Penton Talk / Help with tire sizes...
May 02, 2002, 08:38:04 PM
Thanks for the info.  I'm not trying to be stubborn and demand a 17 inch rear, it's just that it's already on the bike now and for my situation is better than new tire and rim.

Penton Talk / Help with tire sizes...

Thanks for the info.  I'm fine with whatever I need to do, I just need to know what options I have besides new rim and tire.  Is patching a no-no on the tube?  And does anyone know if there are still 17 inch tubes available?  The tire is only a little worn, and appears to be still operable.  Any info is helpful.

Here's the engine number found on the lower left side above engine casing.  13793  I gave a gentleman this number and was told it wasn't the correct number.  Let me know if I'm looking in the wrong place.  Thanks.

I've been reading through a variety of topics learning all I can and I've noticed that frame numbers are much longer than mine was.  I do believe I am looking in the right place for it.  The frame number is again 702 01253.  It has a Lectron carburetor, huge Metzeler tires, frame and engine and that's about it!  As soon as I find the engine number I'll post it with the frame number.

Here's the frame number  702 01253. I thought I had located the engine number but apparently was not the number I need, actually I need to know where to look for the engine number.  Please be patient with me, I'm new here!  Thanks.

Penton Talk / Help needed!

Thanks Chief, sure enough the slide was stuck.  It's soaking now and hopefully that'll do the trick.  Carb was extremely clean inside.  Thanks for your time and reply.

Wanted / For Sale / 77 250 GS6 For sale
August 18, 2004, 09:26:03 AM
This bike was given to me and I tinkered and got it running.  I put a new kickstarter on it, and plug and it ran great.  The engine is strong but needs much body work, brake and clutch work.  I ride modern motocross (forgive me) and just want to get rid of the bike.  I live in middle tennessee and will meet within reasonable distance.
I will post a picture as soon as I find out how.

Penton Talk / Electrical woes...
May 16, 2002, 09:17:04 PM
My 250 two-stroke is finally back together but I do not have a spark.  The obvious problem is that the spark plug wire has separated at the spark plug boot.  Two questions I have:  First, is splicing an option, secondly, is there a way I can know if the coil is good?  You guys have been a great help, thanks again.

Penton Talk / Type of fuel to run...
May 06, 2002, 10:42:57 AM
Need help with fuel.  I have a 250 two-stroke and need to know what fuel should I run.  I know I have to use a mix.  Owners manual says to use 98 octane.  That's a little hard to do now so let me know what fuel all you guys run.

After a little research and a diagram on the Lectron fuel systems home page (http://www.lectronfuelsystems.com)  I now know exactly how to describe my problem.  Unfortunately their link to e-mail was not set up yet so I'm asking if anyone has a clue what to do.  The metering rod is somehow lodged (with the throttle closed), this causing the slide not to move, and I've no idea what to do.  I cannot figure out how to remove the slide from the rod or how to remove both together.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

The slide on my Lectron carb (250 engine) is stuck and won't budge even after soaking it overnight.  What can I do?
