Penton Talk / Bob Neruda has passed away
March 01, 2016, 12:05:02 AM
Al called me at lunch time, knowing that I'm not on here anymore. This however is a special time and I owe it to Bob and the Penton Owners Group Family to make my addition. Bob's home is about 6 miles east of us and the funeral home is a couple miles around the corner. I don't recall the last time I saw Bob or talked to him on the phone, as it isn't easy to keep track of time, unless it's written down.
Connie and I were at the visitation and I did talk to son Lucas for a while. We hadn't seen him since he was a much smaller boy, so had to ask for help. Lucas mentioned that Bob's passing involved breathing problems, if that is comfort of some kind.

Penton Talk / Penton transport needed

Paul - I can handle that and turn it over to you at Family Night in December, if you can wait that long. White Pines is still in the pipeline too.

Penton Talk / Cycle-liner trivia
October 13, 2008, 07:40:09 AM
If the memory is working in good shape, Northland Plaza is the one at the northwest corner of M-72 and US 131 in Kalkaska, Michigan. The Cycleliner was at the Jack Pine in the late 70's, which isn't far from Kalkaska.

Pat - Bob will bring a bike for you to ride in the parade. Other than a Penton, I don't which one. You are all set.

Paul - Make it Atlanta, Michigan by the 27th. or Moorestown, Michigan by 10/25 and I can pick it up. I'll have to check if anyone would be coming down from the UP in October.

Lloyd - You are OK with your thinking on the bearing, as the pin will be the ID part. As for the actuator arm binding, I'd check as to why it did not get oil from the engine.

Penton Talk / The Penton Minute at the Jackpine 2008
August 11, 2008, 07:05:36 AM
Ambr - I don't know how confusion happens. While Mid-Ohio was full of racing Saturday and Sunday, I was in Michigan riding, not racing, the Pine Cone and Jack Pine Enduros. Previous posts cover how the Jack Pine came out, not good at all. For the Pine Cone I rode an exibition non-scored class without any problems, although it was at a 12 MPH schedule. Colorado is where I'm heading Friday.

same time next year?-------

I sure hope you're not thinking about the movie with that in it's title.

Penton Talk / The Penton Minute at the Jackpine 2008

Bob -  The date for the 2009 Jack Pine will be known the first weekend of December. Start planning now as there is no reason why there can't be as many rows as needed for Pentons to start the Jack Pine. Plans were started last November for what took place the 27th.
Raymond - The expression on the boys face could also be part of what he no doubt witnessed in the preceeding minute.
Denny - Have you claimed your Low Point Finisher trophy yet? I see you should have been given 13 more points at check #4.

Penton Talk / The Penton Minute at the Jackpine 2008

Although the best laid plans didn't come out perfect, the Penton Minute was a success as far as I'm concerned. I didn't fare as well as Dewayne and Denny on the riding part. Pulling over to let a rider by took me into some branches that knocked the left petcock loose on the Windsor tank. With no way to stop the leak completely, I was out of gas at the next two track. Raymond, there was a guy taking a picture of DAVIE loaded in the back of a pick up truck. It was well known there were Pentons at the Jack Pine this year and I tried to do my part.

I don't know about the UP, but there were two POG members on Pentons in the LP. By the way Rod, did anyone get hurt when you ran into those two?
