Post the GasGas on GasGasrider.org
Not many '98 models, especially that well kept.
GasGas owners are a close knit group.

Penton Talk / Handlebar risers
August 05, 2009, 09:34:33 PM
Rox Speed has an interesting assortment of risers.
I believe the site is RoxSpeedFX.com
I use a set of their "block" forward mounts on my
modern bike, the actual risers look a little scary for
any aggresive riding the way they clamp on.

Kenda makes a DOT legal knobby called a Track Master, it is sort of a 752 copy.

Penton Talk / Where are they now?
January 22, 2009, 12:00:20 AM
Thomas,
I probably raced at Chisolm Trail when you did. Also Yemassee and Savannah. Remember Stokes Honda, Penton, Bultaco and Rickman and can't remember what else all in one shop. The good old days.

Jerry Barbour is a good source, solisvintagebike.com also appears to restore the Italian Harleys. I raced one in the early 70's. Unless you are really motivated I wouldn't attempt restoring one of these unless it is going to be display only. Check out the Jack Krizman (Kesco) goodie list at the solisvintagebike website, you would need most of those parts to get it to run right and of course they haven't been available since 1975.
BTW, the long legged baby Cerianis only have 4 1/2 inches of travel,
they can be converted to 6 inch travel with parts from the 350 4 stroke they made back then. My Baja eventually ran quite well but getting it there was really doing it the hard way, a very frustrating and aggravating experience in 1972. Almost forgot, the cast iron cylinder weighed 17 pounds, only in 1974 did it get an aluminum one, way too late by then.

Penton Talk / Cross country question

Thanks for the explanation. My Berkshire is almost complete and I may try some CC along with MX at the events that offer both.

Penton Talk / Michelin Knobbys

I second the Michelins, especially the S12s. The M12 front is a great tire too, the rear not so much. I haven't bought any lately so can't comment on any reduction in quality. They come stock on all GasGas bikes. The MT16 looks like a great tire for vintage bikes, unfortunately they are too big for 100 and 125s, at least for the rear.

Penton Talk / Petcock question
March 01, 2008, 06:52:49 PM
Thanks for the suggestions. The gaskets should be in place, I put the new reproduction petcocks on as they came but I'm not real familiar with this type. Only one petcock has the seep. It's the right hand side one, otherwise I would cap it off. I guess I could swap them and see how that works.

Penton Talk / Porting specs for the 100 cc Sachs
January 07, 2008, 03:32:16 PM
In regard to 28 mm Mikunis they show up occasionally as they were used on TM100/125 Suzukis. The ones on the TMs had a taller cap but will still fit. The 1974 TM 100 used a 26, the 1974 TM 125 used the 28. For some unknown reason the 1975 models were reversed, 28 for the 100 and 26 for the 125. The 1973 TM125 I'm not sure of, probably 28 mm also.

Penton Talk / Shocks for "72" 6- Day
January 06, 2008, 09:15:15 PM
There is a set of new gas Progressive shocks on Ebay in the store section of vintage shocks, 12 1/2 length, $185. I've bought parts from that guy before, pretty decent guy. I have Redwings on one of my Suzukis, they are pretty good for the price. I remember something
under the 'search function' about Redwings on Pentons about fitment due to the large lower body, I don't remember the details. My Berkshire has Progressives, they work well but I also don't compete.

Penton Talk / Fuel tank crosover question
December 28, 2007, 04:31:55 PM
Thanks Ron,
I though that may be the case but wasn't sure and didn't want to buy the wrong tank.
BTW, the young man in the picture with the steeltanker looks like me back in the day, didn't have a Penton unfortunately.

Wanted / For Sale / 1972 Berkshire pipe for sale
December 08, 2007, 07:47:38 PM
I have had so many requests in just 12 hours I have decided to put the Berkshire pipe on E-Bay, otherwise I would be e-mailing back and forth and no one would be happy and I don't have that much free time on my hands.

Penton Talk / Power valve carb question
October 11, 2007, 02:56:10 PM
Sounds like you are referring to a 2-stroke powerjet carb used on some modern MX 2-strokes. I don't know much other than the powerjet is controlled by the ignition and they can be used without the powerjet hooked up. A search on "powerjet carbs" will tell you more about them.
