No-Toil help

Hey fellow POGGERS,
    I just ordered some No-Toil air filter cleaner and oil.  I was wondering if anyone out there uses this product.  Also, can I use it with the filter I've been using or should I get another filter?  Thanks, see you guys at Casey, and........GO PENTON!

Hey Dave, Funny you should ask this question, I just cleaned my filter with NO-TOIL just now and the stuff work's great!!I had a filter that I had used motor oil on and all I did was clean it with gas and let it dry and used the NO-TOIL after and the filter cleans up just fine.

Dave this is good stuff,easy clean up. Traps dirt well and easy to put oil on your filter. I will have some at Casey this weekend. See you there.

With my father having owned a GAS station most of my life GAS works best for me!! NUTZ or not...............

I don't know how many of you started riding dirt bikes in 66 or before, but when the filtron filters came out, we all used to clean them with gasoline and then wash them with dish soap. Then we would let it dry and then oil them up and install on the bike. That was just the way it was done. I still do it that way and it works great.

Hey Donny , that was me , I used to wash with gas, dry and coat with 30wt Pennzoil and put wolf's head grease all over the air box. We would take our chain off was in gas the put it in a pot of wolf's head grease and cut it on a hot plate until boiling the grab it with a pair of vise grips and lay it out on a board til it cooled down and then put back on the bike.

If you are using a petroleum based oil, buy a solvent from the auto parts store to clean your filters in, much safer than gasoline.  I always clean the filter in solvent and them wash them in hot soapy water and then let dry before reoiling.  Just my opinion.

I have been using the "No-Toil for over a year now and I really like it. I started riding late in the 60's and we use to use gas or solvent too. But if gas will eat at my fiberglass tank don't ya think it will do the samething to my air filter? When I started riding again I had to replace my filter because it had rotted on the bike. It came apart after the first time I tried to clean it after the first ride. I am sure that part of that was due to age but the other part due to the solvents I had been using. Not to mention what it was doing to my hands everytime I cleaned my filter. I am convinced that harsh cemicals prematurelly age my filter. With the "no-toil" clean up is quick and and easy and my hands are not subject to harsh cemicals. In fact my hands are really clean and soft. Hmmm I bet that is a good indication of how easy it is on my filter too. I have noticed lately that Twin air and some other filter company has come out with a similar product. this is an indication that, one it works and two it is probably better for the filter. being as old as I am I do not tend to change the way I do things but when it makes sense what else am I to do. Just a thought.
I realize that it is a bit expensive to get set up because you need both the oil and the cleaner but the stuff lasts along time and I like the idea that I do not have to use wheel grease to seal the edge of the filter either the kit comes with that too and it cleans up just like the filter oil. I have never checked to see the cost differance between no toil and some of the other similar products but I bet the cost is about the same.
I noticed that I went through the oil and grease alot faster than I did the cleaner and I was able to get both the oil and the grease seperately at a local shop. That was nice!

Nutz, actually was a little humor, no harm intended....
Of all the "petro" cleaners, I shy away from gasoline, to flamable and hard on everything, I prefer Kerosene, cheaper that gas, less volatile and works in different apps...plus I keep a small amount for the bullet heater in the winter.....(.02)...Adios

You are probably tired of the "women's" perspective, --- but I attribute the fact that the skin on my hands is "less than perfect" on the fact that I had them in gasoline so much in my riding days.... chains, filters, etc....

Now I am smart enough to tell my husband that he does those types of things sooooooo much better than me.  So now I guess I will have to blame the wrinkles on old age!

  Actually, I always enjoy your perspective.  Welcome back!  Hope all is well in the Big Town or as the old racers refer to it as Chi Town, that was the name of a old drag car from the 60's -  Chi Town Hustler.
  I'll be in Oak Brook next Friday looking at some new (old) bikes a friend has collected.  Now how does that go....you encourage your husband to do the dirty work because he is sooo much better than you.  I'll try that this weekend on some lawn projects with my wife.

I will chime in on the No-Toil filters as well.

I have used them for a while on the 75 Jackpiner, 85 KTM 250MX, and a whole fleet of Hodaka's and like them alot.

They flow very well (as long as you dont over-oil them) and if you use the No-Toil cleaner (not gas) they last along time.

I didn't go anywhere, but I have been terribly busy/buried at work without any time to leave messages, but I have tried to continue to read many of the posts each night.  

As I mentioned to you before... I work in Oak Brook and I am sure your friend knows where the McDonald's Campus Office building is on Jorie Blvd. (next to the Lodge and Hamburger University - not the McD office complex next to the mall).  I usually try to work from home on Fridays, but let me know if you have some spare time.  I would love to meet for a quick lunch....

Regarding the lawn work -- I would get out my violin, but I have no sympathy for you there....  I suspect that you are a lot happier playing in the dirt and riding lawn mowers than cleaning house!!!
