Blue oval Penton decals -- before & after ISDT pix

Has anyone ever repro'd these?  They are plastered all over bikes from the early 70s to an extent that evokes memories of the STP decals I used to get at the local Pennzoil station and plaster all over my Orange Krate knockoff. Those decals (Penton) would be worth repro'ing if someone has a template copy.

This is a smallish photo but you can see what I mean. This bike is, I believe, Mr. Doug Wilford's 125cc ISDT Team Penton "A" team bike from 1973 on which that gentleman earned a Gold medal.

Here is a photo of S.V. Sluice of Holland (143)(Silver) and of Gunter Luken of Germany (144) (retired) both on KTM/Penton 175cc bikes. Luken has both the small and large ovals (along with a KTM oval too).  (Yes, Sluice is on a gold bike but he is listed as having been in the 175cc class so it is just a nice paint job I assume).

Just for fun here is what they look like after 6 days of hard riding (center right):

Best regards, John

I have one that I believe is an original one. It is a little over 7 inches long and a little over 4 inches tall. What would be involved in duplicating it? I would be happy to volunteer it for that duty but would like to get it back if possible. If someone wants to contact me off list my e-mail is [email protected].

Did these come in different colors to match the different models at the time???

rcrump1

The only color I have ever seen this sticker in is light blue.

All the ones I have seen are blue, and they appear on red, green, blue and gold tanked bikes. Never seen a photo on a Mint.

Richard, that is a great offer and there should be no need to damage your original.  Here's hoping that Tom or someone else contacts you.  I'll pre-order six of them.  Regards, John

I have the same decal only smaller. It is 3 1/8" long  and 1 3/4" high. If someone is interested in making the smaller ones they can have one of mine.

Dean, that is a really nice offer.  Looks like we have the basis for a set!  Regards, John

Hello, If someone reproduces these stickers I would be interested in buying some of the large and smaller size stickers that Dean mentioned as well. They seem to be hard to find,so I think its a good one for reproduction! Go for it! :D Crash Carden
