Wanted / For Sale / Cylinder Sleeves
June 16, 2006, 10:35:09 AM
forgive my ignorance, are these 125 sleeves? will they work for my 6a? do they come with specs or installation instructions? we are severely machine shop challenged in yuma, az. and need all the info we can get, so we can reduce the chance that they'll botch the job, but no guarantee :(

Penton Racing Talk / Mert's Progress...pg.4

my father-in-law got valley fever too, it nearly killed him as well! improperly diagnosed for 9mos. the disease is borne from spores in the desert dust, common to wild land firefighters, (as in my father-in-law's case), farmers, field workers, road builders, etc. anybody that works in a unusually dusty environment.

Penton Talk / What's up with Penton on ebay?
February 12, 2006, 10:03:24 AM
i have also noticed the same thing, searching for harley stuff etc, the extra pages seem to be "ebay store", perhaps ebay is trying something new to promote more of the "store" products. just a guess

Penton Talk / engine is siezed...bummer!!!
February 02, 2006, 03:04:34 PM
because the '84 harley fxrp, '66 gt 390 engine, toploader 4spd transmission, c6 auto transmission, '82 400m engine, bead blaster, hydraulic press, work bench, rollaway tool box, wooden machine shop tool box, bench grinder, both wire welders, arc welder, drill press, box of body shop tools, flammable hazards locker and 8 racks of vw engine/transmission parts occupy most of my 2 car garage. as a matter of fact, the harley has to be moved out, so that i can get in. i do have a 30' x 60' shop going up out back,(i hope its not too small), concrete was poured last saturday. then all shop support can go out there, and toys can go into the garage. the '85 pontoon boat and '72 tunnel hull ski boat will have remain outside. the garage will get tight(again) when i finish my wife's '66 vw bus and my '42 ford tudor, but they're a couple years from done. i did have a metal tool shed at my last house, that the penton used to live in, at this house, my well pump/tank etc live in the shed.

Penton Talk / new sprocket insulators?
November 06, 2006, 08:37:39 AM
greetings, it has been a long time since i checked in here. the desert southwest has finally cooled and dirt bikes are on our minds again. i took the rear wheel off my '73 six day 125, and the little round drive insulators are hard as little charcoal brickets, are there replacements available? or what has anybody else substituted in their place?

February 23, 2006, 09:58:23 PM
as previously mentioned my '72 six day is motor is froze up from rain dripping down the throttle cable into the carb then the lower end(the piston was at tdc) there is a 6b motor on ebay, mine is a 6a, what is the difference? are they interchangable? i'm not a numbers matching kinda guy,,, i just want to ride my penton. is there a number breakdown somewhere? i have seen a 5a motor also. i'm guessing "125"cc "1"cyl "6"spd "a"version ?

Penton Talk / engine is siezed...bummer!!!

i went out back to check the bike, some time last year, during our unusual occurrance of rain, the tarp blew off, rain water trickled down the throttle cable, filled the mikuni carb, ran over into the engine. i dont currently know the extent of the damage, i'm currently soaking the cylinder with atf. my atc250r sitting right next to it, is fine. i am totally bummed out :(

Penton Talk / new member, new pistons?
January 31, 2006, 03:38:38 PM
greetings, my name is jay, i have a '72 six day 125, which i have owned since '76. i am getting ready to resurrect the bike again, (3rd time) and i believe a new piston is in order, although it still runs, the current original is quite rattley. is there new pistons available? i just passed on a deal on epay for a cyl/head/piston combo sold at $55.00 plus shipping, i dont have any idea what the going price is. i am looking forward to sharing and learning here.
