Tighten pinch bolts last.  Good idea to work the forks up n down through full stroke.  I like to pull the ft brake in, push forward/down, then tighten pinch bolts and brake arm.

Penton Talk / January 2013 POG meeting

Great idea Jeff.  And how about an Amherst premier event for those of us east of the Mississippi? After all, without Amherst there would be no Penton motorbikes or KTM USA for that matter.

Penton Talk / January 2013 POG meeting

Paul,

A topic for discussion tonight should include a contingency plan donation for John Penton Story.  We are close to closing the deal but are still short.  If the POG has any undesignated cash, I recommend making a portion of it available.  You could designate a not to exceed amount.  Todd and crew have been beating the bushes and are getting closer every day.  But, it is all or nothing.

Suspension might be ok for 140# tiny mite.  But, for 180# Kid it's too soft ...

Ps:  feet on pegs and tars on ground for proper ol' skool technique.  You could be disqualified if you mind your manners [8D]

Todd,  contact nationalenduro.com.  We went to 9 out of 10 rounds last year.  I wore POG T-shirt to most events.  The old guys know Penton/KTM  connection.  The young guys don't.

Penton Talk / the way it used to be

Another simple homebuilt race rig.  Started with boat trailer axle and scrap angle iron.  (Phillips boys @ Orlando Sports Stadium circa '72-73)

Penton Talk / KTM decals

Brian,  your photographic examples of blue Penton/KTM all appear to be restorations.  Who knows what color they really were?  Does it matter?   I will add comment that just like a serious antique collector - it is only original once and that is where the value is.

Wanted / For Sale / Need carb for 72 Six Day

FLOAT  jet.  The device that lets fuel into the bowl.  It is threaded.  Use your old one.

On the fuel metering circuit, the needle jet and needle should be fine.  It has a 200 main jet which should be rich (but should run).  We've been running 160-175 mains.

Rob, As always - nice job.

Bob,  you will need to replace the float needle jet with a larger one (from you old carb?). The carb I sent you has a 1.5 which is fine for trail riding, but long WFO will suck bowl dry.  In a pinch you can drill it out larger, but it is tricky to radius the sealing edge.

Penton Talk / timing help

Also a classic symptom of Mikuni (enrichening circuit instead of true choke or tickler system).  Need to keep throttle completely closed for enrichening circuit to work.
