I Have an old friend that lives in Ridgecrest who is looking for a 250. He is not a POG member, but He had a KTM branded (Red Tank)73/74? 250 back in the day and was very fast on that machine (D37 desert and MX) I would like to put you in to contact with him if it is still available.
I will send you a PM, but I don't know if email works on this site these days

Thanks

Doug

Dwight                                                                           I got these jetting specs for the 30mm Bing from a very good tech article by Jack Penton that was posted by one of the members and they worked very well on my 73 Jackpiner. #1 Slide, #1 needle, 150 Main, 2.80 needle jet,35 Pilot and a #40-404 atomizer. Mine was running a lot like you are describing.Mine did not have the 40-404 atomizer so I got one on ebay. I also replaced the needle and needle jet with new parts from Bing international as I also read that as these wear they can contribute to the problem. My slide was a #2 and I could not find a #1 but the #2 worked just fine. after making these changes the bike ran fantastic. If you don't have the 40-404 atomizer these specs will not be correct.

1976 Bultaco 370 Frontera - Vintage enduro - $700 (north)

Reply to: see below

Hi, I have a Bultaco 370 Frontera that hasn't been started in 4 years. It has matching frame/engine numbers and great compression. I bought this from a guy who had several bikes and just didn't ride this much. I really have to many projects at this time and hope someone can use this. I've had a couple Alpinas' in the past and they proved to be very reliable. I'm guessing the carb. is gummed up. The last owner said it ran strong with no problems last time he started it. It also comes with a 4 gallon plastic desert tank. It comes with a new FMF exhaust silencer/spark arrestor and a carbon fiber skid plate. This would be a easy restore or great vintage racer. Comes with a Bill of Sale, no title. Bike is located in Bellingham, Wa.. $700.00 call 360-318-6619

Penton Talk / Parcel shipping........
January 12, 2012, 09:35:04 AM
I always use delivery confirmation  and tracking when I ship. The people at the post office told me that they can only track to the country that is being shipped to and that countrys postal system take over from there. Some countrys have good tracking systems and some don't. They could not tell me which countrys track and which ones don't. Probably not a big issue unless you are selling on ebay and come across some one who wants a free part. If they claim they did not receive it and you have no proof they did, ebay will force you to reimburse them.

Penton Talk / Parcel shipping........
January 11, 2012, 09:04:14 AM
I have shipped quite a few parts including several engines that I sold on ebay and shipped them all USPS with very good results. I use priority, parcel post and flat rate, depending on the item and what makes the most sense economically.
I got burned once using USPS to ship a piston to a guy in France. He claimed he never received it and since there was no tracking available I was forced to give complete reimbursement. This cost me $150 and I no longer sell to overseas buyers because of it.

Penton Talk / LED Bulbs
September 19, 2011, 01:24:58 AM
Paul
There is no big secret. I just looked on ebay for festoon style bulbs in the size range that is on my 78 PE 175 and ordered a few different styles that claimed to be the brightest. They would all work, but the one that seemed to be the brightest looked like a circuit board with a couple of yellow dots on it rather than a glass tube. Since the 78 pe headlight and tail light run off the same circuit the headlight runs brighter because the led taillight is using less amps. I was also able to splice in a brake light on the same circuit because of this. 12V incandescent festoon bulbs will also work on the PE 175 6v tail light, but used on the same brake light set up they would make the headlight dim every time you hit the brakes.

Penton Talk / LED Bulbs

I experimented with using 12v led bulbs in the 6v tail light of my PE 175 and found one that worked really well. I had to try a few before I found one that worked.

Penton Talk / Recovery in Japan
March 25, 2011, 09:22:16 PM
The situation in Japan Has made me sick to my stomach. They are an amazing society and are truly good people that I have tremendous respect for. I pray for them daily.
The road repair was a tremendous accomplishment and I have no doubt that they will rebuild completely in time. However being an American "Union" worker I have no doubt that we in the USA could and would do the same. The bigger problem in our country would be for our general population to remain as calm and orderly as the Japanese have during this disaster. This behavior is what sets there society apart from ours.
Thanks for sharing this with us Ron

Penton Talk / Hello New Member

Kurt
On the Rickman Zundapp parts there is no one go to place to get them. First thing you want is to do everything you can to salvage any part you have. I have got some from ebay, I have put out calls on Marks vintage swapmeet and been successful, speedandsport.com has some parts and do nice custom machine work and make cables etc. There are a number of guys that have NOS parts squirled away and if you can get them in the right mood they might let go of some. There is one guy that frequents this forum that has a pile of these bikes. Put out a call for what you need where ever there are vintage MX people and you may be surprised.

Actually I just looked at Marks Swapmeet and there is one of the biggest piles of Rickman Zundapp parts I have seen on there right now. Better hurry.
