Penton Talk / Sachs/motoplat wiring
March 11, 2021, 03:02:57 PM
my 1975 Sachs 125 /6D has a yellow, red and green wire. I connected the yellow to the headlight of my Herc GS, using a simply on/off switch. The red wire goes to the tail light directly (it works inductivly, when the headlight is on) and the green one you can use for the stop light switch or a rectifier for charging a battery (for stop light, horn and flashers, if needed).

Penton Talk / New KTM book

the other Six Day on page 46 (bottom right) is Paul Danik's ex bike that belongs to the KTM Motohall now.
On page 30 you will find a rare picture of a Hansa Trail bike. Another picture with Jack Penton on a HTB and other Hansa bikes you will find in Tom Pentons thread "The Beginnings".

Hi Jake,
thank you for your offer, but a large truck would not help. I need a Boeing 747 because I am located in Germany :D

Penton Talk / Shipping across the pond
December 13, 2019, 03:04:07 PM
Some years ago Speedy Clasen sent my 2003 Reunion Ride Hercules from Canada to Germany. The best way was to send some parcels with DHL as "used vintage motorcycle parts", but the frame and the engine was shipped in a crate, also as vintage motorcycle parts. I had to pay customs only for frame and motor.
I don't know if this was the cheapest way, but it worked.

Penton Talk / KTM Motohall
May 10, 2019, 04:11:23 PM
Jack Penton said that it was a world class ceremony!
Indeed, it was an absolutly great event!

Media information: "...Distinguished guests also made the trip from the USA to the Innviertel, among them Roger DeCoster, who was responsible for KTM's unprecedented success story in the US Supercross, and who spent a busy evening in Mattighofen. The visit of John Penton to the Friends Opening of the Motohall was also a memorable and very emotional experience. The now 92-year-old American delivered essential impulses to the world of offroad motorcycle competition, and he made KTM famous in the world's most important offroad market...."

Paul,
I want to take some pictures for the POG for sure. Don't know if there is a booklet, my information is more than two years old. If so I will ask Jack Penton to bring one for you.

And yes, I will meet John Penton, we are staying in the same hotel, the "Gasthof Weiß" at Munderfing. Good to know that John likes black coffee.  Kalman Cseh will be there too.

Paul, then I will meet John at Mattighofen!

The museum will be absolutly great!

Here is one more story in front of the opening - the time before John Penton set the corner stone for a new era in KTM's history:
https://blog.ktm.com/inthisyear1959-crisis-and-shifting-focus/

Have a look to the picture at the bottom of the story: the design of the building looks like a wheel with spokes and knobby tires.
And did you notice your old 1969 Six Day? (you will find a part of the rear fender on the picture of the blue scooter :) )

Penton Talk / KTM history: why KTM became orange
November 18, 2016, 01:04:42 PM
@ Gordon: this T 325 was a hand made bike, but KTM built several of the Trial bikes, first as 250 cc, if I'm right. Heinrich Wieditz, the former Zündapp and Hercules constructor, changed to KTN in late 1977 and built the T325. Felix Kranstoever became German trial champion in 1978 on a KTM. As I know one of the T325 is still existing. More information (in German) you can find here:
http://www.webermichl.at/index.htm?bikes/ktm/ktm_trial.htm

@ Mike: I don't know why the Berkshire is red and the GS 100 is green, but the Penton-KTM was first, so my guess is that KTM just changed the green and red tanks for the CMF Euro models
