Penton Talk / Back from the RR
November 01, 2007, 11:39:16 PM
Hey John
Thanks for all the kind words and help while Dane worked on Scruffy.  I did take your advice and go easy on the old girl.  Scruffy worked better than she ever has.  Shifted great and the clutch transplant worked a dream.  I always find that one in trouble at the races will be inundated with help and information that will keep one going.  It's amazing that I took a clutch out of a roller that haden't been used in 30 years threw it in a bike and race it at full tilt for 2 days and finish.  Just goes to show you that the old Sachs parts are very durable.  It also helps that to have someone that knows the ins and outs about those engines.

Dane probebly hadn't worked on one of these is several years and still knew what to look for.  I wish I had a tape of the lesson because I have a couple of engines that i'm working on.  I almost forgot Dane did the work siting on the top side of the bike while I watched form the bottom side.  Thanks Dane I'll call you when I get back form Chile.
See Y'all

Wanted / For Sale / Rickman/Zundapp parts
January 28, 2007, 10:28:31 AM
Hey James
I'm interested in your Rickman stuff.  Unfortinally I'm in OKlahoma.  As far as I know the blue Rickman's didn't have turn signals.  but the later red ones did.  Maybe some one changed the colors on your bike it is easy to do.  I have a blue tanker and a couple of enduro red tankers and a red MX.. I might suggest going to MBZ ignition for the Zundapp as the Bosh electronic was very unreliable.
Contact number is 405 919 19 45.
Thanks
Dane

Penton Talk / KTM 100.....or Sachs top-end conversion.
November 17, 2004, 11:39:11 AM
:D
I did that on my 76 Penton ie. KTM.  It was a stright bolt on instalation.  I didn't use gaskets on the base or on the head.  Lowered the port timing for more torque and higher compression.  I never had any failures with the 100 KTM but when I got bumped to the A class I killed several pistons in the stock 125cc cylinder and head. Never did figure what was going on with the 125 stuff.
See Ya
Okie;)

:D
Dane used to rebuild the old ones and remagnatize the flywheel.  That is the only way to go and much cheaper.  I don't know if they still do it but it wouldn't hurt to ask.
