Penton Talk / (#1) 1997 KTM Jack Piner Questions

David,
Thanks! I e-mailed my address to you this morning. I am looking forward to digging into the bike. I was close to selling it a few months ago, had a cash offer of $7000 and turned it down. Anyway I think it will just increase in value as the years pass. Thanks again for all you help.
Take care

Penton Talk / 1997 Jack Piner 200 LE #1 of 133

Bob thats awesome! I had no idea only 5 of the green ones were made! I was really luckly to get my #1, esspecially in the shape it was in. I think I am going through a mid life crisis, I am 41 and I raced motocross for about 10 years (got banged up several times and my girlfriend said NO MORE) she wears the pants!, then sold everything when I got married. Now that my 2 boys are teenagers we started riding dirt bikes about a year ago. After going 15 years without a dirt bike, I now have an 03 KTM 450 EXC, an 03 KTM 200 EXC, a GASGAS 300 Enduro and the 97 Jack Piner. The garage is full and I am back to riding!

Thanks for the info, looks like they made 133 of them. What do you think they are worth now? I would think one with all the documents and mint condition has got to be worth $5,000. Sound to high?

Is it true that they only made 200 of 1997 200 LE's? Are they numbered? If they are numbered how can you tell?

What shape was your 1997 in that you bought for $3500???

I have one that I bought in 2000 for $3500. I think that was a steal, as it came with all documentation, two sets of plastic, one unused original blue issue, and all of the trinkets that came with it new.. mugs, brief cases, shirts, hats etc.
I would not sell mine for any price, but I think it could still bring the $3500 or more. It is a rider, as it should be.. I have several Jackpiners in my garage, one of which I bought new in 1973. This seemed to be the logical next bike for me.
This doen't help you with determining a value, but it is my nickels worth.
