Wanted / For Sale / WANTED MC5 MARZOCCHI SHOCKS...
March 20, 2020, 09:23:50 AM
Jeff, sorry, just wanted to jump in here, the emulsion shocks needed lower psi to keep the oil/gas mixture from cavitation, the higher psi would be for rezzy setups, WPSupercrossers or the like and remote reservoirs with the bladders where the oil and nitrogen are separated. IIRC

Mike. I think those rear shocks were Works Performance, I can see a fatter retainer ring on the spring stack than the Boge or Fox'es used. Don't see a crossover ring between the spring sets tho' but none of the pics were close up. I worked for Gilles Vaillencourt and his dad back in the late 70's. Went back and looked closer at those and did see the crossovers and the split rings, I have a set just like them not red white and blue just white and blue.

Once, hare scrambling, I started in 3rd off the line and was into the woods first, didn't stay there tho'. That 78 gs400 was a torquey beast.

Penton Talk / Bing Float removal

All the above and try grabbing the pin between the float hangers with a slice of sandpaper and a small plier over the paper. Hold the plier tight and tap lightly in the direction away from the knurled side? Good luck.

Penton Talk / PUCH bikes - the other side of the tracks?
December 30, 2009, 06:36:35 PM
Kip, I have made maybe a dozen of these covers for folks can't remember who I made them for but still have the patterns for the earier up to 74 and the later 74 and up splash aprons. The only problem with the earlier apron is the heat shield was an ab pad that is hard to find a substitute for. The old splash covers' pad can sometimes be salvaged and/or the covers can be made without. I sold Mike the yellow 125 bike with a new cover several years ago at York. He called me to see if I still do them. I can get more vinyl and will fire up my old kenmore machine, let me know by e-mail if you still need one.

Penton Talk / Decals & Decal Removal???

Not having done this I'm guessing a hair dryer or hot air gun would soften the adhesive without damaging the paint. My best guess.

I'll dig an airbox out tomorrow.

John, the later Puch 175/125's used a cone inside the airbox forming a straight bellmouth, not sure if the intent was to act as a ram to boost the resonance at mid rpm, as in this article, or to just keep water out of the carb in crossings. I think there was a little r&d behind it's use. I can take some pics if you would like. George

Hey, if things don't go according to plan for all on this, I have a 74/75 Puch project that is in need of parts. Does this bike have a downpipe or a sidepipe? Thanks,George

Do reflected sound waves in the intake tract effect anything... a scavenging type thing going on in the slide side.

my machine shop guys swear by the ea934na as a fix for the oops they sometimes have, machines well and is hi temp(300-350 degrees)... it is a little thicker than the ea9394 which has a creamy texture when mixing and flows out or levels more readily. All of these are industrial.

Penton Talk / Power valve carb question
October 11, 2007, 06:47:00 AM
Paul, too new for me but I can guess the power valve is used on four strokes, to richen up the midrange and for hot starting ????
