I have one of the original reels somewhere in my stash. I believe Matt told me many years ago it was unedited. Always wanted to have it put on a VHS format.I am not sure which ISDT is on it.

Penton Talk / Prototype History?

Mark Adent was one heck of a racer. A fast dude that won many District 37 desert races, but looked like he should have been on the beach surfing. Mark was sponsored by Penton West for some time. He was an asset to our Penton race efforts with his many wins. The 1974 ISDT in Italy in which Mark rode, was my first Six Days also. It was an experience i will never forget. It was led that year by team manager Larry Maiers, General manager of Penton Imports.
I still remember the terrain as being stone city. A lot of the Americans did well, and some not so well.
Back to Mark's sister Linda, Yes, she was a looker, and great supporter of the team. I will try to get an update on the surfer man.

Ron, Gene was one of those special motorcycle dealers of the past, where money was not the main object. If he could fix a kids bike, and the kid left smiling, that's what made his day. If they did not have the money to pay, that was ok too. He would just tell them pay him when they could. I am sure you have met a dealer like that in your travels. They are very special, and sometimes hard to find.

Hello Bob, I will keep my eyes open for that Penton/Honda creation.
I am really curious as to how this Penton/ Hiro came into your life,as the the project was a few years before the time you were riding it. Can you remember any of the details about your becoming the owner of it? I can not remember how many Hiro projects were completed at Penton West in Rancho Cordova Ca., but it was very few.I am sure age has something to do with my memory, but i sure do remember Ray Huff. That guy was one of the fastest, and toughest guys i can remember.

Bbeck,That is a good story. Gene Nunes was one of greatest and most caring dealers around. He would always go out of his way to help a customer.I was a shop rider for Gene on Husky, Penton, and Suzuki at one time or another. Gene and his great mechanic Bill Onga (of Elsinor Grand Prix fame, who has passed on)were both accomplished riders. Gene was severly injured in the early seventies at the Wilseyville Hare Scrambles. He is now retired and getting along fine in Loomis Ca..Both Gene and Bill were two of the original founding members of the Dirt Diggers North MC

Paul Danik's question to Rodger and Bbeck as to were they live brings up a question. Is it possible to put the poster's city and state for all to see when he or she posts? I have always wondered where the person lived that posted on this Forum. Heck, it might even be a neighbor of mine. Probably some legalities, but it sure would be nice. Perhaps it could be up to the member, or poster, if they wanted that to be known.Just some thoughts, what's the chances webmaster?

I also appreciate the eBay tip from Peter on the two steel tankers. I have Penton as a favorite search, but for some reason it did not pick up the two steelies. I like it when  POG members tip me off as to Penton or Hi-Point items on eBay, or any where else. This is the Penton Forum.
