Penton Talk / Al Born has passed
May 10, 2012, 07:36:44 PM
Al Born was one of the nicest persons I ever met around motorcycles, and that is saying something.  He is also a big reason that I joined POG some 10 years ago.  What a loss.  Cliff

Penton Racing Talk / First serious competition rig

Hauler - 1967 Chevy van with motor cowl between the seats. Van was painted with school bus yellow and white combo.  Bought used and front tires squeeled driving it home.  Yep, I said front tires.  Got under it to look see, and noted that the PO had broken a tie rod and welded it right across the threads.  Both wheels pointed outward for negative tow in.  Bought a tie rod , installed it, and pointed the tires the direction they were supposed to go.
I am still learning lessons about buying cars/ trucks.

MC - 69 Yamaha DT1 tied down against the motocowl with chains and S hooks over the handlebars.

Penton Talk / Traveling to Barber
October 20, 2011, 06:47:57 PM
And a great meeting it was with Scott of POG and Bud and Barb of OVBSA.  Wife and I had just dismounted for the day and in comes Scott and Bud and Barb from differnt directions.  We hardly let them check in .  You know how it is in the "community".  No one could get out of their road gear before the comraderie was underway and we had some 300 miles yet to go to Barber.  It was only phase one of many beautiful days to come.  Thanks for helping us to kick it off right Scott.  Cliff

Penton Talk / Penton Dealer/Service School 2/6/2010

This sounds great.  While I am not a frequent visitor, I am a respectful one.  The "Penton family" activities have no rival.

A friend and I are planning to be there. I know there was general reference to lodging in the area, but would a more frequent visitor give us a tip on near by lodging.  We are a cut above the Motel 6 but do not require any fancy lodging, just clean and safe.

Penton Racing Talk / KTM fork oil
May 01, 2009, 10:03:53 PM
Tony, Thank you very much.  The forks are 38mm.  I have used your exact procedure for 35 mm on my 76 250, but the 38's on the 81 250 were new to me.

I will procede with your 38mm suggestions and make any adjustmente if required.  Again, thanks for the reply.  Cliff

Penton Talk / Mark Mederski Resigns from the AMHF

Mark was the foremost face with which I identified at AMA and later the museum.  Very accomodating, and obviously serious about progress for his organization.  He will be missed and then some.  Hide and watch after this.

Penton Talk / Zoke Shock Rebuild
February 01, 2005, 10:32:48 PM
Thomas and Rocket - thanks for the inputs.  I have some NOS "Leakproof" seals, but they are probably brick hard.  Usually do my own work when it is just to have it functional, which is the case just now.  Was looking for info on the seal availability which I found some reference to in the archives.  But eventually, Rocket, might want to go for cosmetic and all.  How much?  Thanks
